My training and background is in jazz styles such as Dixieland, swing, Latin, and more contemporary jazz. In addition, for many years I have performed the ballroom dance styles of waltz, tango, cha cha, rhumba, etc. As a frequent wedding dance performer I have also done polkas and some variety such as novelty songs and limited “classic rock” – early rhythm and blues styles like “Rock Around the Clock”, or songs such as “Tequila”.  Much of our music can be characterized by performers such as Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jr., Tony Bennet, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Prima. Movies like “Sleepless in Seattle” and “When Harry Met Sally” represent some of our library. However, I have enjoyed performing “artistic jazz” concerts as well, featuring the music of John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Joe Lovano, Horace Silver, Thelonius Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, etc.

My group and I would be happy to play for your event. As a free-lance musician I tailor make an ensemble, or I solo, for your needs. To give you some ideas, I have:

-performed solos at weddings with the accompanist

-formed a 2 piece group, usually with Billy Barnard on guitar, for nice background music

-commonly formed cocktail and/or dinner trios

-often put together 4, 5, or 6 piece dance bands, frequently with Mary Lee singing the classic ballads and swing tunes and playing the mighty baritone sax.

-enjoyed “pulling out all the stops” with a wonderful 16 piece big band, the Randy Lee Jazz Orchestra. We have all the classic big band music plus some variety

I am very fortunate to say that I work with the best in our area.

I will add that I have also been in the position of putting together groups that use accordian, string quartets, banjo, etc.

Please call or email for prices.
